Mayank Yadav Fitness Update

Ahead of the team selection, IPL 2024 sensation Mayank Yadav has provided an important update on his fitness. The 22-year-old pacer from Delhi made a significant impact in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year, playing for the Lucknow Super Giants. Despite showcasing his pace and potential, Mayank struggled with fitness issues, limiting his participation to just four matches where he managed to pick up seven wickets.

Recovery and Training at NCA

Mayank Yadav is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. He has resumed bowling with full run-up and intensity, indicating a positive recovery trajectory.

“My recovery programme went very well, and I feel much better now. I feel much fitter as well,” Mayank shared with The Telegraph.

However, despite the promising recovery, Mayank is expected to remain at the NCA for additional time to ensure complete fitness, casting doubts on his selection for the Sri Lanka series.

“Yes, I’ll have to spend some more time here, but the good thing is, I’ve been bowling with the full run-up and a lot of intensity over the past few days. I’m happy with my progress so far,” he added.

Performance in IPL 2024

Mayank Yadav made his IPL debut for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) against the Punjab Kings in Lucknow on March 30, taking three wickets for 27 runs. In his second match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), he again impressed with figures of three wickets for 14 runs. Unfortunately, during his third match against Gujarat Titans, he suffered an injury scare and was only able to bowl one over. After missing several matches, he made a comeback against Mumbai Indians on April 30 but experienced pain, preventing him from completing his overs.

Likely Participation in the Duleep Trophy

According to a BCCI source quoted by The Telegraph, the board is keen to give Mayank ample time to achieve full fitness. He is likely to make a comeback during the Duleep Trophy, which is scheduled to start on September 5 in Anantapur.

As the Indian cricket team gears up for the Sri Lanka tour, the focus also remains on the recovery and readiness of promising talents like Mayank Yadav. While his immediate participation in the series remains uncertain, his progress at the NCA and potential comeback in the Duleep Trophy are positive signs for Indian cricket.
