Copa America 2024: Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria headline Argentina’s 26-member squad for the Copa America 2024, announced by head coach Lionel Scaloni. This announcement, which included the return of some of the team’s finest and seasoned players, was announced on a Saturday.
Pre-Tournament Friendlies
Before finalizing the squad, a total of 29 players were called up for pre-tournament friendlies against Guatemala and Ecuador. Coach Scaloni used these matches as important training to assess his players’ form and preparedness for the competition.
Notable Exclusions
Valentín Barco, Ángel Correa, and Leo Balerdi were three players who did not make the final cut for the Copa America squad. Despite their talents and contributions in the friendlies, these players were left out of the final 26-member squad.
Final Squad List
While seasoned players like Messi and Di Maria display their experience and skill in the final team, young players like Alejandro Garnacho, who made the cut, will be hoping to make a big impression on the world stage.
