Fraser-McGurk as Ngidi Replacement: The Delhi Capitals (DC) have been dealt a blow ahead of the upcoming IPL season with the news that South African fast bowler Lungisani Ngidi will miss the tournament due to injury. However, the team has moved swiftly to secure a replacement, announcing the signing of Australian all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk.
Fraser-McGurk as Ngidi Replacement in IPL 2024
Ngidi, a proven performer in the IPL with 25 wickets in 14 matches, sustained a lower back injury during the playoffs of the recent SA20 league. Â While DC loses a valuable bowling option, they have brought in a player with a promising all-around skillset in Fraser-McGurk.
The young Australian has already played in two One-Day Internationals for his country, displaying an aggressive style of batting. He recently impressed in the ILT20, the UAE’s T20 league, playing for the Dubai Capitals (DC’s sister franchise). In his three appearances there, he amassed 109 runs at a staggering strike rate of over 213.

Fraser-McGurk’s versatility, both at bat and with the ball, gives the Delhi Capitals much-needed flexibility. Â While he may not directly replace Ngidi’s role as a frontline pacer, his all-round capabilities could be a valuable asset for the team. Â The fact that he has already played for the Dubai Capitals and is familiar with the coaching staff, including Aussie legend Ricky Ponting, could also ease his transition into the Delhi side.
