Three years after the disappointment of the Tokyo Olympics, Manu Bhaker has etched a new, triumphant image in the annals of Indian shooting history. At the Paris Olympics, the 22-year-old from Haryana clinched a bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event, becoming the first Indian woman shooter to medal at the Olympic Games.

Bhaker’s accomplishment is noteworthy for her redemption and the entirety of the Indian shooting. Her medal signifies the conclusion of a 12-year Olympic medal drought for Indian shooters. The previous medals were won in 2012 at the London Games.

Manu Bhaker the Road to Redemption
The journey from Tokyo to Paris wasn’t easy for Bhaker. After the 2021 disappointment, she faced stagnating results and a crisis of confidence. However, she stepped back, reset her approach, and reunited with her long-time coach Jaspal Rana.
